FWPCOT2237 Maintain chainsaws

Participants undertaking this training in this course will develop the skills and knowledge required by chainsaw operators to maintain engine or battery operated hand-held chainsaws. It includes sharpening chains and completing routine and frequently required service requirements as well as periodic servicing. Work is completed in a variety of work settings including a forestry environment, agricultural, workshop, arboretum and horticultural settings.

COURSE DELIVERY

This course will be delivered in the workplace or a Third party facility.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • Participants must have the capacity to undertake the physical requirements of the course, for example be able to use tools and equipment to maintain a chainsaw.
  • And have reading and writing skills to read instructions and complete fault logs etc.

COURSE DURATION

  • Face to Face – 4 hours (minimum) full face to face course

ASSESSMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks. These are detailed in the sections following.

  • No industry recommended renewal is identified on the certificate, employers are recommended to consult with stakeholders to identify appropriate training periods.

    ASSESSMENT ACTIVITIES

    • Performance tasks –
      • Plan and prepare for service/maintenance activities
      • Conduct chainsaw maintenance activities
      • Complete maintenance records and clean up
    • Documentation – Completion of an equipment fault log.
    • Theory assessment – A written assessment consisting of multiple-choice and short answer questions. The student must complete all assessment questions.
